                        The Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area proudly launched their 2025 annual Akwambo Festival on Saturday, June 28, 2025, with a theme: "Salvaging Declining Social Values; A Shared Responsibility Of Government & Traditional Rulers."  The festival, slated for August 2nd to 10th, promises to be a vibrant celebration of culture, heritage, and community development. Akwambo, which literally means "clearing of paths," has its roots in the traditional practice of clearing emergency routes used during wartime. These routes were crucial for escape and tracking enemies and were cleared annually to ensure readiness.  Historically, the festival also served as a form of census, where able-bodied men who participated in wars would return home and place oil palm branches near the "Oman Posuban" (shrine). The surgery took place on June 2, 2025, at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. A statement shared with EKAE Media confirmed the great news:  “SUCCESSFUL SURGERY AND STEADY RECOVERY: Suzzy has successfully undergone her scheduled eye surgery and is now on the path to full recovery.  Winneba–Apam Highway Crash: Taxi Driver and Three Schoolchildren Confirmed Dead On Monday, 23rd June 2025, at exactly 4:24 PM, fire rescuers from the Winneba Fire Station swiftly responded to a fatal head-on collision at Nantwibuw, a section of the Winneba–Apam highway. The accident involved a Hyundai Jett (CR 748-20) and a Toyota RAV4 (GN 5507-18). The rescue team, led by STNO II Nyarko, arrived at 4:29 PM and successfully retrieved the lifeless body of the trapped taxi driver, identified as Godfred, popularly known as Dinho. His body was handed over to the Ghana Police Service at the scene. Prior to the arrival of the fire crew, other victims—mainly students from Uncle Rich and St. Paul schools—had already been transported to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital. The Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) is calling on the government to urgently pay the 50 percent allowance on the basic salaries of all frontline health workers — an amount that has remained in arrears for the past nine months. In a closed-door meeting with Dr. Smith Graham, Chief Executive Officer of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), the Association stressed the need for swift action to ease growing tensions among mortuary workers across the country. “We are appealing to the government through the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to take immediate steps.
