Effutu Constituency's 24-Hour Economy Market to be Built at Winneba Junction, Unanimously Concluded by Stakeholders


A stakeholders meeting held on Friday June 13, 2025, hosted by the Effutu Municipal Assembly (EMA) has unanimously concluded that the 24-hour economy market for the constituency will be built at Winneba Junction. The meeting, attended by Omanhene of Effutu, Neenyi Ghartey and his council, assembly members, traders, technocrats, and civil society groups, aimed to discuss the siting, construction, and operationalization of a model 24-hour economy market in Winneba.

The stakeholders unanimously agreed that Winneba Junction is the best location for the modern market, citing its potential to boost the local economy and attract businesses that can create jobs. The meeting also provided a platform for the assembly to engage with stakeholders, gather feedback, and promote awareness about the proposed project and its benefits for the Effutu people. The government has allocated 25% of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) to support the implementation of the 24-hour economy market model in every district according to the MCE, Rev Atta Mensah.

The Effutu Municipal Assembly is set to move forward with the construction of the market, which will operate 24 hours a day, fostering a vibrant economy and improving the livelihoods of residents.

The 24-hour economy market is expected to:

- Enhance commercial activities in the municipality

- Create job opportunities for residents

- Stimulate local businesses

- Improve the overall economy of Winneba

With the government's commitment to supporting this initiative, the Effutu Municipal Assembly is poised to make significant strides in promoting economic growth and development in Winneba.
