'I urged the Assembly to consider appropriate consultation in future projects ' -  Dr. Bismark Odum Sackey

Dr. Bismark Odum Sackey has urged the Assembly to consider appropriate consultation in future projects. Speaking at the just-ended Effutu MCE Stakeholders meeting on the design and construction of a 24-hour economy model market in Winneba, he emphasized the importance of identifying the primary beneficiaries.

Dr. Sackey expressed concerns about the timing of the meeting, noting that Fridays are market days in Winneba, which made it inconvenient for key stakeholders to attend. "Even the time for this meeting is not appropriate, Fridays are market days in Winneba," he said. "We should have chosen a non-market day and ensured that we got the market women and men, GPRTU drivers, and other key stakeholders to share their views, as they are the primary beneficiaries.

Dr. Sackey highlighted the importance of consultation in ensuring the success of development projects. He cited examples of markets in Ghana where beneficiaries are not utilizing the facilities because they were not involved in the design and construction process. "A lot of markets in Ghana have beneficiaries who are not selling there because they don't find the place appropriate and workable for their business," he said. " I urge the Assembly to do well in consulting with the primary beneficiaries.

Dr. Sackey's call for consultation emphasizes the need for inclusive decision-making processes in development projects. By involving the primary beneficiaries in the design and construction process, the Assembly can ensure that the market meets their needs and is utilized effectively.
