A DELEGATION FROM EFFUTU TRADITIONAL COUNCIL PAID A CONDOLENCE VISIT

TO THE UEW TO MOURN THE PASSING OF PRO.KOKU MAWUADEM AMEDEKER


The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) recently received a courtesy call from the Effutu Traditional Council, led by Neenyi Obor Kwesi Atta, to convey their condolences on the passing of Prof. Koku Mawuadem Amedeker. The delegation, which included Mr. Ebo Ghartey, Chief of Staff to Paramount Chief Neenyi Ghartey VII, expressed the Council's shock and sadness at the tragic loss.

During the visit, Mr. Ghartey conveyed the Paramount Chief's heartfelt condolences, describing Prof. Amedeker as "an integral part of our Winneba family." The Effutu Traditional Council's gesture underscores the esteem in which Prof. Amedeker was held, both within the university community and the broader Winneba society.

The University of Education, Winneba, appreciates the support and solidarity from the Effutu Traditional Council during this difficult time. The loss of Prof. Amedeker is deeply felt, and his legacy will continue to inspire the academic community.

Background of Prof. Amedeker's Death

Prof. Amedeker, a renowned physicist and respected lecturer at UEW, was found murdered at his private residence in Gyahadzi, a suburb of Winneba, on May 22, 2025. His body was discovered buried on his compound after he had been reported missing by his family and a search was launched. The University community and the nation at large were shocked by the incident, with the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) demanding justice for the slain professor.
