"Let the Contractor for The 24-Hour Economy Model Market Employ Some of Our Youths Here" - Hon. Quansah Yakubu Appeals to Government
The Effutu Municipal Assembly is set to move forward with the construction of the market, which will operate 24 hours a day, fostering a vibrant economy and improving the livelihoods of the residents.
Hon. Quansah Yakubu, aka Hon. Kofi Cleff, Assembly Member for Dwomba electoral area and Presiding Member of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, has made a passionate plea to the government to ensure that local youths benefit from job opportunities in the upcoming 24-hour economy market project.
At the stakeholders' meeting held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Municipal Assembly's Conference Hall, Hon. Quansah Yakubu emphasized that despite the Municipal Chief Executive's brief tenure of just three days, youths are already flocking to the assembly seeking employment.
"Though our MCE has been in office for just 3 days, every day youths come here seeking jobs. I will urge the government to let the contractor for the market employ some of our youths here. We need to ensure that our youths benefit from this project and gain valuable work experience."
The stakeholders' meeting brought together various groups, including chiefs, Assembly Members, traders, technocrats, and civil society groups to discuss the siting, construction, and operationalization of the modern market. The project aims to enhance commercial activities in the municipality, create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and improve residents' lives.
Hon. Quansah Yakubu's appeal highlights the need to prioritize local benefits and job creation in development projects. Let's hope his plea receives the attention it deserves.
