President Mahama Extends Ramadan Greetings, Urges Unity and Compassion

President John Dramani Mahama has extended warm Ramadan greetings to Muslims across Ghana and beyond, urging them to embrace the holy month as a period of reflection, renewal, and unity.

In a statement released, the President, together with his wife Lordina Dramani Mahama, conveyed heartfelt wishes to families observing the fast.

“Ramadan is truly a special time; a month of reflection, renewal, and coming together as one community. As you begin your fast, may your hearts be purified and your imān strengthened. May Allah, the Most Merciful, grant you good health, peace of mind, and abundant mercies throughout these thirty days,” President Mahama said.

He prayed for the acceptance of prayers and good deeds during the holy month, reminding Muslims that the essence of Ramadan lies not only in abstaining from food but also in showing discipline, compassion, and generosity—especially to the less fortunate.

The President further encouraged Ghanaians to use the season to strengthen bonds of love, peace, and unity across communities and the nation.

“Let us use this holy month to strengthen the bonds of unity, love, and peace in our communities and across our beloved Ghana,” he added.

Concluding his message, President Mahama wished all Muslims a spiritually fulfilling Ramadan, saying:

“From my family, we wish you a spiritually fulfilling and blessed Ramadan. Ramadan Mubarak! May Allah accept your worship.”

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, prayer, and charity.

In Ghana, the season is marked by communal prayers, nightly iftar gatherings, and acts of kindness, with leaders often using the occasion to call for peace and national unity.
