POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTS, RECOVER STOLEN VEHICLE AFTER ROBBERY AT MPATASIE IN ASHANTI REGION

 

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery and carjacking incident that occurred at Mpatasie, near St. Anthony Hospital in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects — 30-year-old Issaka Jamal and 40-year-old Kwadwo Badu — were apprehended on Friday, November 8, 2025, along the Ofankor-St. John's stretch of the Accra-Nsawam Highway, while attempting to flee from law enforcement. During the arrest, one of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound and the other suffered minor injuries. Both are currently receiving treatment at the Police Hospital.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspects and their accomplices carried out an armed robbery on Thursday, November 7, 2025, targeting two individuals traveling in an unregistered silver Hyundai Tucson (DV-5357-Z). The robbery took place at Mpatasie, where the victims were attacked and robbed of GHC120,000 in cash, three mobile phones, ID cards, work tools, and other personal belongings. The suspects then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

A swift police operation led to the recovery of the stolen Hyundai Tucson, an amount of GHC5,900 in cash, a customized number plate labeled "Congo-1-24", and other valuable exhibits. All recovered items have been secured at the Police Headquarters.

Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining members of the robbery gang.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to enhancing intelligence-led operations and ensuring that all perpetrators of such crimes are brought to justice.
