2026 Budget: Government to Provide 100 New Fire Tenders for Ghana National Fire Service – Finance Minister Ato Forson
In a major move to enhance emergency response and fire safety nationwide, Finance Minister Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that the government will procure 100 brand new fire tenders for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in 2026.
The announcement was made during the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy in Parliament. According to the Minister, the move is aimed at boosting the operational capacity of the GNFS and addressing the logistical challenges that have long plagued the service.
“This investment is critical to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the country. The government is committed to strengthening emergency services and supporting our brave firefighters with the equipment they need to work effectively,” Hon. Forson stated.
The Ghana National Fire Service has, in recent years, struggled with aging equipment and inadequate resources, leading to delays in response to fire outbreaks and other emergencies. The provision of 100 new fire tenders is expected to significantly improve response time and coverage, particularly in underserved regions.
Stakeholders have welcomed the news, describing it as timely and essential for national safety and resilience.
