AS YOU CALL ON US TO UNITE,WE ALSO CALL ON YOU TO LEAD WITH INTEGRITY. LET YOUR ACTIONS REFLECT YOUR WORDS
Effutu Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah, recently issued a heartfelt appeal to the people of Winneba and Effutu to set aside political differences and unite for the town’s progress. In a candid Facebook post, the MCE acknowledged the challenges of political friction and narrow loyalties that have slowed development, urging stakeholders to collaborate beyond personal ambition for the greater good of the community.
However, Emmanuel Kwesi Aboagye Essibu, a concerned youth of Effutu, social activist, and media personality, has responded with a challenge to the MCE’s call for unity, insisting that true change must begin from the top leadership.
In his response, Emmanuel highlighted the growing awareness among Effutu citizens that key cultural events — including the famous Fancy Dress and the iconic Aboakyer Festival — are heavily influenced by political interests at high levels. The ongoing dispute within the Fancy Dress Federation, he noted, remains unresolved largely because of political interference.
“Many in Winneba believe that setbacks affecting our festivals and development stem from internal political decisions and loyalties,” Emmanuel said. “The people are watching closely and want leadership that puts Winneba first — above party lines or personal alliances.”
He urged the MCE to back his words with bold actions: “Be courageous in addressing those who hold back progress, even if they are close allies. Be transparent, inclusive, and focused on the people — and we will walk with you.”
Emmanuel concluded with a rallying cry: “Together, let’s make Winneba a shining example of what unity, truth, and strong leadership can build. Winneba first!”
This exchange highlights the high expectations of the Effutu community for leadership that goes beyond rhetoric to meaningful, accountable action. As the town seeks to overcome political divisions and build on its rich cultural heritage, the call for both unity and courageous leadership has never been more urgent.
