Ghanaian TikTok Star Osanju Passes Away After Battling Leukemia

Ghana's social media community is in mourning following the sudden death of popular TikToker, Elvis Frimpong, widely known as Osanju. His passing was confirmed on September 1, 2025, after reports emerged that he died in his sleep shortly after watching a football match between Barcelona and Rayo Vallecano. Osanju, a devoted Barcelona fan, had shared a video expressing his disappointment over the team's performance just hours before his untimely death. 

Osanju had been battling leukemia, a form of blood cancer, for several years. In a candid interview in July 2023, he revealed the challenges of living with the disease, including the financial strain that led him to sell his possessions to afford treatment. Despite his health struggles, he remained active on TikTok, creating content that resonated with many. 

Earlier in the year, on January 20, 2025, Osanju suffered the loss of his mother, Veronica Frimpong, affectionately known as Amonu. She was a beloved figure in his videos, often appearing alongside him and endearing herself to his audience. Her sudden passing deeply affected Osanju, and he shared his grief openly with his followers. 

Following his mother's death, Osanju faced additional challenges, including the loss of his TikTok account. He accused some users of sabotaging his account, leading to its suspension. Despite these setbacks, he continued to engage with his audience through a backup account, demonstrating resilience in the face of adversity. 

Tributes have poured in from fans and fellow content creators, expressing shock and sorrow over his passing. His close friend and collaborator, Oheneba Jude, shared heartfelt messages and photos, mourning the loss of a dear friend. 

Osanju's legacy as a content creator who brought joy to many, even amidst personal struggles, will be remembered. His authenticity and resilience have left an indelible mark on Ghana's digital landscape.

  Agona Nyakrom Tradtional Area has successfully concluded its annual Akwanbo Festival 2025 with a strong call from its traditional leader for greater recognition and development. Winneba: Police foil attempted robbery at bank

  The Anti-Armed Robbery Response Unit (AARU) of the  Ghana Police Service  has foiled an attempted robbery at the Microfin Rural Bank in Winneba, Central Region. Police said at about 1am on Friday, August 15, 2025, the bank’s alarm was triggered, drawing the attention of a patrol team on duty. The team, sensing unusual activity, proceeded to the bank to investigate. “On reaching the location, they were met with sporadic gunshots from the robbers. After a brief exchange of fire, the gang bolted, leaving behind one pump-action gun and other implements,” the police stated. The AARU team retrieved the weapon together with an empty cartridge from the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that about five armed men were involved.
