Effutu MCE Engages Fancy Dress Group Leaders to Ensure Peaceful and Vibrant Festival

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Effutu, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah, held a historic engagement on Saturday, 13th September 2025, with leaders of the Winneba Fancy Dress (Masquerade) groups — a major step toward delivering what many believe could be the best Fancy Dress Festival in the town’s history.

The day-long meeting, which ran from 9:00 a.m. to 7:20 p.m., brought together representatives from the Winneba Police, Narcotics Control Commission, BNI, Chief Imam, other key stakeholders, the Federation, and the leadership of all five major masquerade groups in Winneba:

- Nobles (No. 1)             - Egya (No. 2)               

 - Tumus (No. 3) 

- Red Cross (No. 4)          - Royals (No. 5) 

• Each group was given the opportunity to present its concerns, ideas, and expectations, enabling open and transparent dialogue.

• Discussions focused on logistics, safety, and the cultural significance of the festival, with the aim of ensuring a smooth and vibrant celebration.  

• All parties agreed on concrete steps to improve coordination, implement safety measures, and strengthen organizational structures.  

• Stakeholders jointly committed to making this year’s Fancy Dress Festival the most memorable and successful edition yet.

The MCE emphasized that this engagement marks the beginning of a phased planning process. In the coming weeks, additional meetings will be held to finalize detailed plans for:

- Event logistics  

- Security and health services  

- Public engagement and community outreach  

These plans will be communicated to the public ahead of the festival.

Rev. Atta Mensah also proposed extending the festival to a week-long celebration, with activities leading up to the main competition day — allowing for greater public participation and excitement.

He expressed gratitude to all group leaders, stakeholders, and community members who took part in the engagement. He further called on residents of Winneba, local businesses, and festival supporters to contribute through sponsorships, adherence to safety guidelines, and active involvement.

Agona Nyakrom Deserves District Status – Okofo Okatakyi Nyarko Eku X, Appeals to President Mahama

  Agona Nyakrom Tradtional Area has successfully concluded its annual Akwanbo Festival 2025 with a strong call from its traditional leader for greater recognition and development. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Salvaging Declining Social Values: A Shared Responsibility of Government & Traditional Rulers.” The week-long event drew thousands of indigenes, visitors, and dignitaries, filling the town with cultural display, unity, and a renewed sense of purpose. Winneba: Police foil attempted robbery at bank

  The Anti-Armed Robbery Response Unit (AARU) of the  Ghana Police Service  has foiled an attempted robbery at the Microfin Rural Bank in Winneba, Central Region. Police said at about 1am on Friday, August 15, 2025, the bank’s alarm was triggered, drawing the attention of a patrol team on duty. The team, sensing unusual activity, proceeded to the bank to investigate. “On reaching the location, they were met with sporadic gunshots from the robbers. After a brief exchange of fire, the gang bolted, leaving behind one pump-action gun and other implements,” the police stated. The AARU team retrieved the weapon together with an empty cartridge from the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that about five armed men were involved.
