“This Has Been Heavy on My Soul” – Kofi Kinaata Reacts to Recent National Tragedies
Ghanaian multi-award-winning musician, Kofi Kinaata, has opened up emotionally about how recent tragic events in the country have deeply affected him.
In a heartfelt post shared on his official Facebook page and monitored by EKAEMEDIA, the highlife/hip-life star reflected on the loss of 16 school children, the deaths of legendary Ghanaian musicians, and the recent military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight gallant personnel.
He wrote: “From the loss of 16 kids, to the passing of our legendary musicians, and now the helicopter tragedy, it’s been weighing heavily on my soul. What makes it even harder is knowing I’ve been on that same flight twice this year. That thought just won’t leave me.”
Kinaata shared that the trauma has even impacted his creativity:
“Moments like these really make you question life… what’s the point, when it can all end in an instant? I’ve tried to shake it off with music, but every song I write somehow turns into a sad one.”
His post has since touched many fans online, with hundreds sharing messages of support and relating to the collective grief the country is experiencing.
The singer’s words reflect a growing sentiment among Ghanaians as the nation mourns multiple losses in a short period.
