New Suspect Arrested in Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah's Murder Case
In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the murder of Ghana Immigration Service officer Stephen King Amoah, the Ghana Police Service has arrested a new suspect, Thomas Zigah, also known as Nii Jaase. Zigah was arraigned before the Adabraka District Court on Friday, August 22, 2025, as part of the expanding probe into the case.
Amoah, 38, was reported missing on July 3, 2025, after leaving his residence in Ashongman Estate to meet an acquaintance. His charred body was discovered six days later in a gutter near the GBC Satellite area, opposite Comet Estate in Accra. The gruesome nature of the crime sparked nationwide attention and prompted an intensive police investigation.
The prime suspect, Bright Aweh, also known as Robert or Highest Bright, was previously arrested and charged with murder. Aweh was believed to be the last person in contact with Amoah and had allegedly lured him with images of cash, claiming he intended to settle an outstanding debt. During interrogation, Aweh admitted to giving Amoah GH₵500,000 but provided conflicting accounts regarding the source of the funds.
Forensic investigations uncovered bloodstains in Aweh's residence, signs of attempted cleanup, and a blood-stained fufu pestle wrapped in plastic found approximately 100 meters from his home. Additional evidence, including bloodstains in Aweh's vehicle, was collected and is undergoing DNA analysis to establish a direct link to the victim.
The arrest of Zigah marks a new phase in the investigation, as authorities continue to pursue leads to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the murder. The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of its commitment to ensuring justice is served and has urged anyone with relevant information to come forward.
Aweh remains in police custody and is scheduled to reappear in court. The case continues to unfold as investigators work diligently to bring all perpetrators to justice.
