Agona Nyakrom Traditional Council Appoints Nana Owirow XIV as Interim Chief of Agona Abodom

In a decisive move to restore traditional order, the Agona Nyakrom Traditional Council has officially appointed Nana Owirow XIV as the Interim Chief of Agona Abodom.

This announcement was made during a press conference held at the Agona Nyakrom Chief’s Palace, following concerns over illegitimate claims to the Agona Abodom stool.

This development follows mounting tension and controversy surrounding the chieftaincy title in Agona Abodom.

According to the Council, the individual currently claiming to be chief has not been properly enstooled or sworn in before the Agonaman Traditional Council and therefore holds no legitimate authority.

“There is no recognized chief in Agona Abodom,” the Council emphasized during a press briefing held at the Agona Nyakrom Chief’s Palace. “The current claimant is an imposter, and anyone who deals with him does so at their own risk.”

To avoid a leadership vacuum and maintain order, Nana Owirow XIV has been appointed as interim leader to carry out traditional functions until all legal and customary processes are completed.

As a result of the ongoing dispute, the Council also announced that Agona Abodom will not celebrate this year’s Akwambo Festival (2025).
