“33 years ago, I was just 14. Since then, I’ve witnessed every Ghanaian election under the 1992 Constitution ”

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed eight new Ambassadors and High Commissioners-designate — and among them is Kojo Choi, Ghana’s new envoy to the Republic of South Korea.

Kojo Choi, born to a South Korean father and a Ghanaian mother, brings a rich blend of cultures and decades of experience to the diplomatic front. A well-known entrepreneur, Kojo has spent over 20 years building businesses across Ghana and West Africa, with deep expertise in telecom, fintech, marketing, and consultancy.

Currently, he is the CEO of PaySwitch Ltd, a proudly Ghanaian tech company and the only third-party processor in the country capable of handling international card schemes like Visa, MasterCard, and UnionPay, as well as direct connections to all mobile money platforms (MTN, Vodafone, AirtelTigo).

He’s also no stranger to international relations, having served as a consultant to the Korean Embassy and several multinational firms operating across Africa.

But beyond business, Kojo Choi’s love for Ghana runs deep. In a Facebook post on June 3, he wrote:

“I could have left to the US or Korea… but I chose to stay. I naturalised as a Ghanaian and I’ve never looked back… Ghana may not be my birthplace, but it is my true home.”

As Ghana’s new face in South Korea, many see Kojo Choi’s unique background and business acumen as a perfect bridge for deeper Ghana-Korea relations.

👏 Congratulations, Mr. Kojo Choi! 🇬🇭🇰🇷
