No imposter Will Rule Over Gomoa Mankoadze - Otsew Adabraku Royal Anona Yoko Family Declares

Earlier today, October 10, 2025, the Anona Yoko Royal Family of Gomoa Mankoadze held a press conference to publicly reaffirm their royal lineage and ownership of the Gomoa Mankoadze lands and stool. The event was led by Obaapanyin Mrs. Vida Graham-Acquaah, spokesperson for the family, who delivered a strong message rejecting what the family calls imposters’ claims to their heritage.

“Enough is enough!” declared by the royal family, emphasizing that no imposters will rule over us.

They stressed that royalty is by blood, not intimidation, and underscored their unwavering faith in democracy, tradition, and the rule of law.

The family detailed their claim, citing their descent from Nana Otsew Adabraku I, the first to settle and cultivate the land of Mankoadze in the early 1700s. Alongside his sister, he brought with him the Black Stool, the sacred symbol of traditional authority in the area.

According to the family:

- The entire lands of Mankoadze—bordered by Winneba (East), Gomoa Abrekum (West), Gomoa Onyardze (North), and the Atlantic Ocean (South)—belong to his direct descendants.

- Their custodianship has been reaffirmed by multiple court rulings and historical records tracing their lineage.

The family firmly rejected the claims made by the Kweku Edu “Twidan Family” from Odonasai (near Gomoa Achiase), accusing them of consistently interfering with the Anona Yoko birthright and posturing as legitimate rulers.

They referred to a critical court ruling dated March 21, 1921, delivered by Hon. John Luenstutterbury in Winneba, which confirmed that:

“Kobbinah Esson and his people are tenants under native customary law of the land in dispute.”

The family argues that Kobbinah Esson and Kweku Edu—ancestors of the current claimants—were not indigenous but rather migrant farmers who settled on the land in the 1850s.

“We are capable of managing our own affairs and remain prepared to protect, defend, and rule over our lands as rightful heirs and custodians,” said Mrs. Graham-Acquaah.

The family issued a strong appeal to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, traditional leaders, and all relevant stakeholders to intervene and help resolve the matter peacefully.

They warned that if swift action is not taken, the situation may escalate, affecting the peace and stability of the Gomoa Mankoadze area and beyond.

“We are calling for responsible leadership and lawful action to prevent any further tension,” they said.

The Anona Yoko Royal Family remains resolute in their claim and continues to seek justice through legitimate and peaceful means.
