Despite its popularity, some have raised questions about the authenticity of the live deer catch, suggesting that the deer are purchased rather than caught live. Mfinfinmba Nyimako and the Asafo Youth Group are adamant that this is not the case. "The god won't accept it if we buy the deer," Nyimako emphasizes.
